Postmaster General Donahue is a big proponent of issuing a stamp honoring a living person. However, at least a few of the members of the Postal Board of Governors are not in favor of this idea. There was supposed to be an announcement in May of who would be the first person honored with an issued stamp in the later part of 2012. The announcement was never made and it’s unlikely that there will be an issue this year.

Unless the Board of Governors changes their opinion, honoring a living person on a US stamp may not become a reality.
